MICHAEL JOSEPH WENT HOME TO BE WITH THE LORD, JESUS CHRIST ON TUESDAY DECEMBER 29, 2020, AT THE AGE OF 71
Michael was born to Joseph and Mary Holmes on January 8, 1949, in Philadelphia, PA. As a child , Michael had a passion for basketball and golf. Michael was also an avid Notre Dame football fan and would watch every game with his mother.
Michael met his wife, Carol (Douglas) in 1969 they were married in 1973. Michael is survived by his wife Carol Holmes and his children Jason Holmes and Kevin Westrope, David and Julie Betz, Michael and Jennifer Otto, John Holmes, Joshua and Natalie Holmes, his grandchildren Nicholas and Kim Betz, Ransom Haywood (nee Jacob Betz), Sarah Betz, Julia Otto, William Otto, Lorelai Holmes, Maeve Holmes and his great grandchild Carlos Betz, and brothers Joseph and Daniel Holmes. He was preceded in death by his parents and his great-granddaughter Arora Haywood.
Michael was a CPA and owned his own firm for the majority of his career. His passion in life was his faith and his family. His greatest desire was for everyone he knew to experience the love of God and to receive salvation through Christ Jesus. He spent most evenings studying his Bible and deepening his understanding of theology.
Michael was an active member of his church, Proclamation Presbyterian Church in Bryn Mawr, PA. He supported many ministries and gave back to organizations with his time whenever he could, including taking orphaned children to the circus and other entertainment venues. In his late 60"s, while living with Parkinson's, he took a mission trip to India and continued to lead a Bible study for the residents of West Gate Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation.
His zest for life spanned from the beach to the mountains. He loved spending time with his family during their annual beach trips in the summer and ski trips in the winter. His love for skiing was so strong that he didn't always wait for the ski lift to get to the top before getting off (don't worry . . . there was a net).
A VIEWING WILL TAKE PLACE AT 10:00 AM ON MONDAY, JANUARY 4, 2021, AT PROCLAMATION PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 278 BRYN MAWR AVE, BRYN MAWR, PA, 19010 WITH A FUNERAL SERVICE TO FOLLOW AT 11:00 AM. BURIAL PROCESSION TO IMMEDIATLEY FOLLOW TO MEDIA CEMETERY.
