Albert August Yost, age 76, of Broomall and Ocean City, NJ, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020
Born July 7, 1944, he was the son of the late Albert Yost, Sr., and Jennie Hill. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Jean Poe and Karen Tindiglia.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betsy (Heine), son Stephen, one niece, Marita Tindiglia, one nephew Joseph Tindiglia, and five granddaughters, Hannah, Abigail, Rebecca, Rachel and Lydia.
Al graduated from Yeadon High School in 1962 and went to work for the Philadelphia Electric Company, during which time he served in the Army National Guard Reserves. Having a trade as a welder in Operating Maintenance, he moved to becoming a nuclear outage services planner and retired from PECO at the end of 1995. He then found a second career at Aetna U.S. Healthcare for seven years.
Al loved trains (Lionel), building things and working with his hands. He was very active in the Broomall Babe Ruth Baseball League, designing and building the concession stand at Thomas Field in the early 1980’s. He also helped his nephew and niece build soap box derby cars. Both Joe and Marita won their division races in Media, PA and went to Akron, OH for the Nationals.
Al loved reading and history, After 1989, Al and his wife, Betsy, spent their time between their homes in Broomall, PA and Ocean City, NJ. He loved researching and planning many, many road trips and cruises taken by he and Betsy. His one “Bucket List” trip was a cruise to the Panama Canal, which they did in the Spring of 2019.
Al belonged to the Morvay-Miley American Legion Post #524 in Ocean City, NJ
He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and still is the proud owner of his 1967 Harley Sportser CH.
He always looked forward to the ‘mini-reunions” with his high school buddies and enjoyed being with his friends.
Al’s funeral service will be held Thursday, November 19th at the Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd, Broomall, PA, where friends may visit from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., with a service at 11:00.
