Obituary for William R. Goetz

In loving memory of William R. Goetz, 94, who was a 60 yr. resident of Broomall, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, 9/3/17. Bill was born and raised in McKeesport, PA, graduating from McKeesport H.S. in 1941. He proudly served in WWII from 1942-1945, in the Army Air Corp. with the 380th Bombardment Group as an airplane mechanic. Bill retired from ADEC division Wickes Manufacturing Co. as Drafting Supervisor. He continued his love of woodcraft through the years, supplying Linvilla Orchards with his wood novelties each Fall. He was married 45 yrs. to his beloved wife Eve (Shivers) until her passing 6/23/91. He is pre-deceased by his son, Jeff Goetz. Bill is survived by his children, son Brian (Lori) Goetz of Glenolden, PA, daughter Lorrie Denton of Broomall, PA, grandchildren Brian (Kate) Goetz of West Chester, PA, Tony (Chrissy) Goetz of Aston, PA, Ginger (Rob) Breneman of Virginia Beach, VA, and Rachel Denton of Stephens City, VA. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ava, Brian, Mia and Nathan, and many nieces and nephews. He was a kind, gentle, smart but humble, generous and creative man with a great sense of humor. Bill was loved, admired and adored by all who knew him and will be truly missed. Our Dad, Pop-pop, and Great Pop-pop will remain in our hearts forever.  Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the  Frank C. Videon Funeral Home, Sproul and Lawrence Rds., Broomall, PA 19008, where relatives and friends may call after 9:00 AM.  Interment at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, 2321 W. Chester Pk., Broomall, PA 19008.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be donated to Wounded Warrior Project (  4899 Belford Rd. Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
