Obituary for Theresa Ann Blevin

Theresa Ann Blevin (nee Novack) was the eldest of three children born to Joseph and Florence Novack (nee Jones) on July 9, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, died Sepember 9, 2017.  She attended Upper Darby High School and enjoyed the rivalry with her four children whom attended Haverford High School.  She met the love of her life, James Blevin, in a train station while he worked the soda counter.  They eloped October 25, 1946 to Charleston, SC.  From Pennsylvania they moved to North Cape May, NJ.  Then went to Charleston, SC where they owned an Ice Cream Shoppe and due to a terrible winter, converted it to a Diner that serve Home-made ice cream.  After their adventures they returned to Pennsylvania, where they made Havertown their home.   She was the proud mother of 4 children when she opened her heart and home to an additional two foster daughters.  She and her husband joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Charleston SC in 1956 where she served in many callings.  As an active member of The Relief Society, she spent much of her time with fellow sisters of the church doing various service projects.  Theresa went to business school and earned her Associated Degree in Accounting/Bookkeeping.  She put her degree to use as a valued employee at United Insurance Company for 20+ years.  Theresa was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 1979, beat it and remained cancer-free the rest of her life.  Theresa was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband; her brother, Joseph Novack; and a son-in-law, Stephen Anderson.  She is survived by her sister Elaine Patterson (Thomas) of Boothwyn, PA; one daughter, Bernadette Anderson of Goldsboro, NC; three sons: James Blevin (Mary) of Mountain Home, AR; Robert Blevin (Christine) of Newark, DE; and Philip Blevin of Media, PA; two foster-daughters Pamela Gardner (Thomas) and Robin Duley (Jerry). She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.  She will, in addition, be missed by many nieces and nephews.  Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (2530 Stinson Lane, Norristown PA 19403) on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 at 11:30 AM where relatives and friends may call after 10:00 AM.
