Obituary for Helen Mary Smith

HELEN MARY SMITH

Helen (nee DiBono), on June 14, 2018, age 91 of Newtown Square since 1950, and
previously from Broomall and Philadelphia. She graduated from Overbrook High School
and went on to attend classes at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. She first started
working as a secretary for the US Marine Corps as a private citizen for 9 ½ years in the
Philadelphia office. She has worked most recently as and retired as Director of
Transportation for the Marple Newtown School District for 27 years, retiring in 1994.
Helen has been a member of Marple Presbyterian Church for more than 70 years, where
she was a Sunday School Teacher during the 1960's. She was a member of the St.
Anastasia Senior Citizens group and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Helen DiBono married Mack Smith, Jr. in 1950, who passed away in 1988. She is
survived by her children Karen (Alan) Brodsky of Media, and Mack Smith of Newtown
Square, her four grandchildren Alexandra and Ashley Brodsky, and Danielle and Austin
Smith, siblings Pat DiBono and Ruth Loomis, she was predeceased by her siblings
Edward and Raymond DiBono.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service on Monday, June 25, 2018 at
11:00 AM in the Marple Presbyterian Church, 105 N. Marple Rd., Broomall, PA, 19008,
where friends may call after 10:00 AM. Memorial gifts may be sent in her name to the
Marple Presbyterian Church. Internment is private. Arrangements by Frank C. Videon,
Broomall.
