Obituary for Elsie Rebane

ELSIE REBANE

Elsie Rebane closed her eyes and went to meet her Savior. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Elsie was born on November 30,1927, in Salisbury, Maryland to Hazel and Louis Vollmer. She was one girl with four brothers.
It was in a one-room school house that she started her passion for reading and teaching, and this was always a part of her. She went to Concordia College in River Forest, Illinois, and became a teacher, and first grade became her great love.
In 1953, she married Siegfried Rebane, and enjoyed a live of adventure and travel, both in this country and Europe. They were the proud parents of Krista (Graham), Kathy, Kirk (Bunny), and Karin (Eric). Her grandchildren filled her with joy and wonder. Sara (Brian), Lindsey, Ian, Alena, Anja, Zachary, Mathew, Tim (Tami), and Shane. And also to fill her heart, four great-grandchildren Grant, Maddy, Logan, and Hayden.
Elsie was always active in her church, Lutheran from birth. It was her way of life – again involved in teaching Sunday School and Bible classes, studying, and always learning one more thing. Faith in God gave her strength and courage. For God was the rock of her salvation.
She is survived by two brothers, Donald and Richard Vollmer, both living in Florida. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Erika Oziggle, and many nieces and nephews. And when counting blessings, Elsie had so many good and faithful friends she always said she could both play and pray with.
In her happy place Elsie would have one more book to read, one more sunset at her house in Maine, and one more celebration with her wonderful family for we celebrated so well together. But now she is celebrating with all the saints in heaven. She can see Jesus’s face and all is well.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Saturday, July 7th at 11:00 Am in St. John's Lutheran Church, 25 Scenic Rd., Springfield, where relatives and friends may call after 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, PO Box 66, Winthrop, Maine 04364. Interment St. Paul's Cemetery, Ardmore. Arrangements by the Frank C. Videon Funeral Home, Broomall
