Ernest "Henry" Ryder
Our beloved father was born in Philadelphia,Pa on July 17,1924 and went to be with the Lord on Oct 8,2017.His beloved wife Derri Ryder-Bortner predeceased him in 2008. He had four children with Christine Ryder Spinks, Ernest Henry Ryder III (Stasha), Deborah Ann Macy (Edgar), Robert Ryder (Deborah), and Valerie Lynn Engelman. He has 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He attended the Univ. of Miami for Botany. He was a WWII veteran in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He flew in Patrol Bombers by Martin seaplanes as a flight engineer. He started one of the early hydroponic farms in Miami,Fl. Henry also worked for Otis Elevator for 40 years starting as a helper and ending as an educator and field engineer. He attended Cornerstone Christian Church in Broomall, Pa. He will be interred at the Longenecker Church cemetery in Lancaster,PA His memorial service will be held at Dunwoody Village in Newtown Sq. ,PA on October 28th from noon to three. E. Henry Ryder, age 93, on Oct. 8, 2017 of Newtown Square, formerly of Gales Ferry, CT. Devoted father of Ernest Henry, III (Stasha)), Deborah Ann Macy (Edgar), Robert W. (Deborah) and Valerie L. Engelman. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Memorial Service Saturday, October 29, 2017 at 12 Noon in Dunwoody Village, 3500 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Memorial gifts may be sent in his name to the Salvation Army, 701 N. Broad St., Phila., PA 19123. Interment Private. Frank C. Videon, Broomall.
