Doris A. King (nee Covey)
On December 25, 2017, age 95 of White Horse Village in Newtown Square for the past 18 years, formerly of Broomall from 1952 to 1981 and ​ the ​ Pocono area from 1981 to 1995. She ​graduated from Athens High School ​in ​1941 and married her late husband later that year. Doris spent her life devoted to her family and always lending a helping hand to others. She considered herself a professional volunteer her entire life. She gave of her time and talents faithfully to the Lord, her church and serving others through organizations like Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, local schools and other social outreach programs. While living at White Horse Village in her later years​, she continued to volunteer in the Healthcare Center as a trained hospice caregiver ​and lead Bible studies and Devotions.
​Over ​her life, Doris taught adult Sunday School and Bible School, was an ordained
Elder and Deacon and a member of Women's Association serving in: Marple Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church of Hazelton and Willistown United Methodist Church.
​She was employed as a secretary at Newtown Square Presbyterian Church
​in the 1970's ​ and then worked at Ehm​ling and Byler Printers until she retired in 1981​
​She was the widow of the late Richard C. King who passed away on May 12, 1992 after being
married for 50 years. She is survived by her children Sue (George) Williames of Edgmont, Mary Poynter of Jupiter, FL and Dottie (Michael) Mallon of Malvern, she was predeceased by her children; Richard C. King, Jr. and Kathryn Radabaugh.
​She was the last survivor of 14 Covey children: Leon, Inez Hollingshead, Emma Williams, Wilson, Mary Congdon, Gerald, Tom, Nina Lesko, Dorothy Sop​rano​, Donald, Phyllis Peischl, Richard, Robert. She is survived by her grandchildren, Richard, III and Adam King, Amy​ Ahart, Carrie Cannon, Hilary Buskey, Emileen Baughman, Ann Radabaugh, Katy Maziarz, Annalie
​ Mallon, Sarah Mallon, and predeceased by Michael Poynter. ​ She also has​ 14 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service, on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 12
noon at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 400 Lancaster Ave., Frazer, PA 19355, where friends
may call after 10:00 AM. Memorials may be sent in her name to either, Gideons International,
